Interview with Chronic 2021


Who is Chronic?

First introducing himself as D.A.Y x2 based off of his nickname, DayDay. By Damian’s Sophomore year of high school he changed his artist name from D.A.Y x2 to Chronic. Chronic was more suitable, summing up the artist as someone who consistently puts time to their craft. Currently, Damian is testing his talents in different fields. Such as production, engineering, & having a clothing line. 


The Interview:

Interviewer: What first got you into music?

Chronic: Seeing people in my school do it & I liked the attention they got and wanted that for myself.

Interviewer: Who or what inspired you to make music?

Chronic: My inspirations are asap rocky, drake, & kid cudi.

Interviewer: What is your creative process like?

Chronic: It’s different every time, sometimes I write, sometimes it’s right on the spot, sometimes it takes days. Just depends what I’m feeling in the moment, I don’t try to put too much thought into it. 

Interviewer: Has your musical journey had a deliberate direction?

Chronic: Mainly just been improving, been smarter about planning my future plans, & keeping a productive circle & team around me. 

Interviewer: What is your biggest musical challenge?

Chronic: Showing my content to the right person, all it takes is one person to change your life in this business.

Interviewer: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

Chronic: It’s either this or nothing.

Interviewer: How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

Chronic: Made networking easier as well as promoting content! If you use it right it can have a really positive impact on your career.

Interviewer: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Chronic: One quote I’ve heard that motivates my actions was “what if it’s better than you imagined” 

Interviewer: If you were talking to a younger version of you, what advice would you give yourself?

Chronic: Keep experimenting with yourself, always reach out & network. Never be ashamed to ask for help. 

Interviewer: What’s next for you?

Chronic: Dropping singles for the time being, make my clothing brand (Solitude) more public to the world
